Kondapalli is a village around the outskirts of Vijaywada, Andhra Pradesh. This village is famous for wood crafts which are famous all around the world. These are handcrafted artworks that are prepared with a variety of wood, called “Tella Poniki,” which is available only in the hilly forests of Kondapalli. The raw material is collected, processed, crafted and painted with the utmost care by the local artisans. Kondapalli toys on the major side depict the richness of Indian heritage containing the figures of devotion, ancient Indian lifestyle, and festivals. The Kondapalli artisan depicts the Haridasu bent down on one knee as the woman pours alms into the Akshaya Patra which he wears as headgear. She listens to the songs of praise and mythology sung by the Haridasu and acknowledges his voice.
